2) When do I pickup my race packet? a. Early Bag Pick Up (Strongly Recommended) at Fleet Feet Cincinnati (9525 Kenwood Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45242) on Saturday May 15, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. b. Friday May 28, 2009 between 12 (noon) and 7 p.m. Packet pickup will be at Coney Island in the east parking lot (near River Downs race track) by the transition area. c. Packets can be pickup up race morning, May 29, 2010 between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.
3) When do I pick up my timing chip? Timing chips can be picked up on race morning between 6 and 7 a.m.

6) How much does it cost? a. BEFORE MAY 1, 2010 5K Run/Walk $20 Kids Fun Run $5 Duathlon/Triathlon $35 individual Duathlon $50 team Triathlon $80 team **Duathletes and Triathletes must add a one day USAT fee if not a member. The USAT fee is $10. No USAT fee if only doing the 5K Walk/Run. b. MAY 1, 2010 OR LATER THE RACE FEE INCREASES $5.
7) What is the USAT fee? a. Tri for Joe is sanctioned by the United States Association of Triathletes (USAT). The USAT provides insurance for the event with your annual membership fee or your one day license fee. b. In order for the USAT to sanction the event, athletes must be members of USAT. Athletes that are not annual members of the USAT must purchase a one day license for $10 in order to participate. More information can be found at www.usatriathlon.org/
8) What are the rules? a. Tri for Joe is a family friendly event that was established to allow participants that are new to multisport to participate in an enjoyable event. Race rules are in place to allow for the enjoyment by all athletes. b. Specific rules can be found at www.usatriathlon.org/events/rules.aspx . The general rules are as follows: i. For triathletes, start with your swim wave according to age group. Wetsuits are permitted. ii. No swim aids, other than the wetsuit, will be permitted. iii. Rack your bike according to the assignment board located in the transition area. iv. Walk your bike into and out of the transition area. No bike riding in the transition area. v. Approved helmets must be worn while on the bike, even during race warm up. vi. No drafting while on the bike. You must leave at least 3 bike lengths between you and the bike in front of you. vii. Stay to the right while biking. When passing, announce “on your left” when passing other athletes. Pass on the left, once clear move back to the right. This path will be open to persons not in the race. Use extreme caution when passing these individuals. viii. Wear your timing chip on your ankle using the Velcro strap provided. Teams must transfer the chip from one athlete to the next in the transition area near your bike location. ix. Team athletes should stage near the transition area and make the chip transfer at the bike rack. x. Bike helmets must have the race number on the front, the bike number must be placed somewhere on the frame and the race number should be facing forward on your race shirt or belt. xi. Turn in your timing chip after crossing the finish line in the finish chute. xii. It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the course and follow instructions. Routes will be marked with chalk (run course), buoys (swim) and painted arrows (bike).
9) What is the course? a. RUN/WALK – 5 kilometers inside the Coney Island Park b. KIDS FUN RUN – The Kids Fun Run will take place near the transition area. The run will be approximately 1/4 mile long. c. TRIATHLON - 700 meter swim, 20 kilometer bike (new sprint distance), 5 kilometer run SWIM – The 700 meter swim will be in Coney’s beautiful Sunlight pool. Two laps must be completed. You will start the swim in the North shallow end in age group waves. You will exit the swim after your second lap at the South side of the shallow end. Approximately half of the swim will be in shallow ( 4 foot depth) water, you may stand if necessary. Lifeguards will be on duty. BIKE – The 20 kilometer (new sprint distance) flat and fast bike course will take you out of Coney’s parking lot east along Kellogg Avenue to the Old Five Mile Road turnaround back west to the Congress turnaround back east to Coney. Police officers and volunteers will be along the route to control traffic and assist athletes. The route will be marked with painted arrows at each intersection. RUN – The 5 kilometer flat run course will take athletes from the transition area through Coney’s picnic grove and back to the finish chute. c. DUATHLON – 5 kilometer run, 20 kilometer bike (new sprint distance), 5 kilometer run
Duathletes will follow the same run and bike routes described above.
10) What is the water temperature? Approximately 65ºF. Coney will fill Sunlight pool as soon as possible to allow for the warmest possible race temperature. Wetsuits are permitted and recommended. In prior years, many athletes successfully completed the swim without a wetsuit. This is Coney's opening day. The general public will be in the pool for recreational swimming AFTER the race is complete.
11) What time should I arrive? Triathletes and Duathletes should arrive at lest one hour early to allow for ample time to find your assigned bike rack and get things organized. We expect a large number of participants and space will be at a premium. Lines may be long so the earlier the better. The race will start on time.
12) When do I start? 7:30 a.m. Duathletes, 7:35 a.m. Run/Walk 7:40 a.m. first triathlon (Wave Start by Age Group). Approx 9:30 a.m. Kids Fun Run.
13) Where do I park? Enter at Coney’s main entrance and follow the volunteer instructions to the east parking lot near the transition area. You will be parked near the transition area.
15) What do I wear? Kast-a-way swimwear, Wheelie Fun Multisport and Fleet Feet Sports have a number of multisport items and expert advice to help you on race day. Think about a clothing item that you can swim, bike and run in without having to make a complete wardrobe change in the transition area. One piece race apparel are available for both males and females as well as tri shorts that work well for all disciplines.
